Central Falls taps orthopaedic research colleague as Community Hero for organizing COVID-19 vaccine clinic

Dr. Dioscaris Garcia, a renowned orthopaedics researcher at Brown University, is being recognized for his work outside of the lab.

In its weekly newsletter, the City of Central Falls just named Garcia a “Community Hero” for his collaborative work with The Elisha Project in organizing last week’s mobile vaccination clinic. The event facilitated 100 COVID-19 vaccines to that hard-hit community and distributed more than 3,000 pounds of groceries to residents need in.

Garcia is co-director of the Diane N. Weiss Center for Orthopaedic Trauma Research at Brown University, along with University Orthopedics’ Dr. Christopher Born.
