Miriam Hospital Names Dr. Cohen Co-Director of Total Joint Center

The Miriam Hospital this month announced that it has tapped University Orthopedics surgeon Dr. Eric Cohen as co-director of the hospital’s Total Joint Center effective January 1, 2024.

Dr. Cohen, an adult reconstructive and trauma orthopedic surgeon, joins University Orthopedics’ colleague Dr. John Froehlich to lead the program. 

Established in 2011, The Total Joint Center is part of The Lifespan Orthopedics Institute. It recently earned its fourth Gold Seal of Approval for Advanced Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement from The Joint Commission.

His focus is on minimally invasive total hip and knee replacement and rapid recovery after total joint replacements. He performs direct anterior total hip replacement, partial knee replacement, total knee replacement and complex revision surgeries. Dr. Cohen is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the Orthopedic Research Society. His research interests include rapid recovery after joint replacement and modifiable risk factors prior to joint replacement.
