Fellowship-Trained Surgeon Dr. Kyle S. Nuland Joins University Orthopedics Adult Reconstruction Division

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 7, 2021) — University Orthopedics, one of the largest, most comprehensive orthopedic practices in the region, announced today it’s expanding the Joint Replacement Center with the addition of Dr. Kyle S. Nuland, a skilled orthopedic surgeon specializing in total joint reconstruction.

“University Orthopedics is committed to providing the people of Rhode Island and Massachusetts with world-class orthopedic care close to home. The skill and knowledge Dr. Nuland brings with him will help ensure we continue to provide our patients with the highest quality orthopedic care available,” said Edward Akelman, M.D., President of University Orthopedics.

Dr. Nuland is a fellowship-trained joint reconstruction surgeon specializing in hip and knee arthroplasty, various hip and knee disorders, minimally invasive knee surgery, orthopedic trauma, knee and hip reconstruction, and total hip revision.

“To me, a lot of medicine is talking to people about their backgrounds and what they really enjoy in life. And that’s a huge range. Some people want to get back to professional sports, while others want to go on a hike or play with their grandkids,” Dr. Nuland said. “For me, there’s a story behind every one of those knees and hips. I enjoy getting to know those stories and working together with my patients to get them back to those activities that mean the most to them.”

Dr. Nuland recently completed the Frank E. Stinchfield Adult Reconstruction fellowship at Columbia University in New York City. Prior to that, he attended medical school at the University of Connecticut and completed the rigorous residency program at Albert Einstein College of Medicine – Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, NY. He will be seeing patients at University Orthopedics’ locations in Mansfield and Raynham.
