How Tommy John Surgery Helped CJ Make a Collegiate Comeback

CJ began playing baseball year-round when he was 5 years old. The pitcher was throwing to warm up his arm when he felt a pop in his elbow. Scans revealed his worst fears – it was a total UCL tear.

Already recruited by Bridgewater State University, the high school senior worried the injury would derail his dream of playing baseball at the next level.

CJ turned to several people he trusted to discuss his options, including Dorsey–a former teammate who is now a pitcher at the University of Rhode Island. Dorsey also suffered a UCL tear and had Tommy John surgery with Dr. Andrew Green at University Orthopedics. After hearing about Dorsey’s experience at University Orthopedics, CJ made the decision that skipping his senior season and having Tommy John surgery gave him the best chance of playing ball in college. Here’s his myUOIstory.
