The Complex Spine Clinic at the UOI’s location in Mansfield, Massachusetts will begin May 23, 2024. Staffed by fellowship-trained spine surgeons Dr. Alan Daniels, Dr. Eren Kuris, and Dr. Bassel Diebo, this clinic will be dedicated solely to complex spinal issues, including:
- Spinal Deformities
- Scoliosis
- Kyphosis
- Flatback
- Revision Spinal Fusions
“With its Center for Spine Health, University Orthopedics is one of the few orthopedic practices in the country capable of taking on some of the most severe spinal deformity cases,” said Dr. Daniels, chief of The Center for Spine Health at University Orthopedics. “Patients with these complex spine disorders come from all over the country to receive treatment with our surgeons. Thus, it made perfect sense to expand our world-class complex spine care to patients in Massachusetts, eliminating the need for long and often painful car rides to Boston.”

About Dr. Daniels
Alan H. Daniels, MD is a Board-Certified spine surgeon who specializes in adult spinal deformity and other complex spinal disorders. He serves as Chief of Spine for the Orthopedic Departments at The Miriam Hospital and Rhode Island Hospital and is Chief of The Center for Spine Health at University Orthopedics. He is also full Professor at The Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and co-director of the Brown Spine Surgery Fellowship.
Dr. Daniels’ practice focuses on patients who suffer from scoliosis, kyphosis, flatback syndrome, failed spinal surgery, degenerative spinal disease, as well as spinal trauma and spinal tumors. Many of his patients have undergone one or more previous spinal surgeries, although he also performs primary spinal surgery.

Dr. Kuris employs the latest technologies in treating spinal conditions, including spinal robotics and navigation, minimally invasive spine surgery, and motion preservation surgeries such as disc replacement. He takes a patient-centered approach, individualizing each treatment plan to the patient and is a firm believer that surgery should be considered only when all other treatment options have been unsuccessful.

Received multiple recognitions for his work, Dr. Diebo is considered a leading authority in spinal alignment and posture and one of the most published spine surgeons of his generation.
